How this calculator works
- 1Shift length is the span between start and end, adding a day when the shift crosses midnight.
- 2Unpaid break minutes are removed to get paid hours.
- 3Paid hours are multiplied by your rate, then scaled to a week using your shift count.
Formula
Shift pay = ((End − Start) − Break) ÷ 60 × Hourly rate
Worked example
- A shift from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM with a 30-minute unpaid break.
- That's 8.00 paid hours.
- At $21 per hour, the shift pays $168.
What we assume
- Weekly overtime is applied after 40 hours.
- Shift differentials are not included unless added to the rate.
